No, it isn’t a problem. The time limit for completion is flexible enough to accommodate changes in your schedule, including leave time. However, we strongly suggest that you inform your tutor of your leave times so that there is no confusion should you fail to respond to an e-mail during that period.

Although the timeframe of the course (five months) already takes into consideration the nature of work at CoE, provisions have been made to grant one-month extensions. Extensions are granted based on genuine, unforeseen circumstances (foreseen periods of heavy work and rotation will normally not be considered as valid). Please discuss your situation with your tutor first then apply to the COL Course Coordinator at learnersupport@col.org clearly stating the reasons for your request. Please see Course Regulations and Guidelines for more detailed criteria to qualify for the extension.

Please note: You do not need to apply to the COL Course Coordinator if you would like to adjust submission dates. Please discuss with your tutor to make a schedule and/or revise your schedule.

When you registered for this course, you selected either Module 2A or 2B based on your preference and needs. You have indicated your Module selection on your registration form. If you cannot remember the Module on your application form, please contact your tutor who will have a record of it.

No, you can’t. All assignments are set up in MOODLE. You need to upload the Word Doc in the appropriate assignment section in MOODLE. Once you click submit your tutor will receive a notification and will find time to mark your assignment. MOODLE is a repository of all assignments. It is also set up with group and individual chats where you can interact with your personal tutor and your peers individually or as a group. There are additional course resources set up on MOODLE for your references.

No, you can’t. Although the duration of the course is five months, you must take into consideration the time it takes for your tutor to mark your work, for you to make revisions and resubmit, and possible technology related problems in general.

The course is designed to meet the needs of writers with varying levels of English proficiency. All that your tutor is looking for is evidence that you have studied the course and applied the principles to your own writing. If you have done so and done your best, then don't worry. The earlier you submit the assignments, the better.

Your tutor uses Microsoft “Track Changes” to mark your draft. The marking may be red, blue or another colour. When you resubmit your assignment, all the markings must be cleared so that your resubmission appears clean as a new draft. When you receive your marked draft, go to “Track Changes” under “Tool” then click on “Highlight Changes”, and untick the box before “Track changes while editing” if there is a tick in the box. Then you can make any changes you like.

The marking will not simply be an allocation of a grade. The tutors will mark your assignments carefully with constructive comments, pointing out your weaknesses or problematic areas and making practical suggestions for improvements.

You should receive your certificate 10 to 12 weeks after the course end date (including the extension period).
